Ropar, June 23
Engineers of the Punjab State Electricity Board condemned behaviour of those involved in assaulting Amarjit Singh, Additional Superintendent Engineer (west), Amritsar, who conducted raids on commercial establishments and residences of influential persons to check theft of power.

The engineers at Ropar Thermal Plant convened a meeting and seeked details of their Annual Confidential Reports (ACRs) under the Right To Information(RTI) Act.

In a press statement issued here today, the engineers alleged that the outgoing general manager had destroyed the ACRs of engineers.

The spokesperson said the ACRs of the engineers had been spoiled by the general manager of Ropar Thermal Plant.

They condemned the alleged action of the outgoing general manager, thereby, he delayed the ACRs of engineers till his retirement.

The reports had not been written on the basis of the engineers’ performance but on personal grounds, they alleged.

Earlier, more than 135 engineers brought to the notice of the PSEB management last month, in writing, about the working of the general manager.

They had requested the management to restrain the outgoing general manager from writing ACRs of engineers, as he threatened to spoil their career.

The worst affected were Superintending Engineers (SE), whose reports had been initiated by the manager. The engineers resolved that they would boycott the outgoing general manager.
