Drive to distribute CFLs

To save electricity, Punjab has introduced a “Bachat Lamp Yojna” in as many as seven circles of the state, under which Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFLs) will be provided to the consumers at subsidised rates. Making an announcement here today, Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) Chairman-cum-Managing Director KD Chaudhri said the PSPCL had signed an agreement with Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) for distribution of CFLs at subsidised rates under the scheme.
Chaudhri said the agreement had been signed for distribution of CFLs in seven circles, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr, Ludhiana Suburban, Khanna, Sangrur and Faridkot. The distribution will start in May 2011.
Giving further details he said that each consumer will be given four CFLs each in place of incandescent lamp at subsidized rates.
